The Panel Interview portion of the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant takes place approximately one to two weeks prior to the pageant and serves as the first round of judging in the competition for the crown. This interview provides contestants with the opportunity to meet with a panel of judges in a relaxed and professional setting to share more about themselves, their interests, goals, accomplishments, and personality. During the interview, contestants will meet one-on-one with the judges, who will take turns asking questions designed to help them get to know each participant beyond the stage. Each contestant interviews individually, allowing for a personal and focused conversation experience. Contestants will be evaluated on several key areas during the panel interview, including personality, confidence, eye contact, articulation, and overall delivery.
The Opening Number Dance is the exciting kickoff to the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant and sets the tone for an unforgettable evening! Throughout rehearsals, contestants will learn a fun and simple choreographed dance routine that is designed to showcase energy, teamwork, and personality. At the conclusion of the opening number, each contestant will have the opportunity to introduce herself to the judges & audience. This portion of the competition is not judged, and no prior dance experience is required, just a willingness to have fun and shine on stage!
The Fair Wear (Fun Fashion) competition is the first judged appearance of the day and brings energy, personality, and creativity to the stage! Contestants are encouraged to choose an outfit that reflects what a day at the El Dorado County Fair means to them; whether that’s western flair, carnival fun, country charm, or fair-day fashion. This portion of the competition is designed to give each contestant the opportunity to showcase her unique personality, confidence, and individual sense of style in a fun and upbeat atmosphere.
During the Fair Wear competition, contestants will be judged on personality on stage, confidence, eye contact, stage presence, energy, and charisma. This is the perfect opportunity for contestants to let their personality shine while connecting with both the judges and the audience.
The Formal Wear competition is an elegant showcase of grace, confidence, and poise. During this portion of the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant, each contestant will take the stage in a floor-length gown of her choice, offering an opportunity to highlight her individual style and personality in a sophisticated and polished presentation. Unlike the upbeat energy of the opening walk, the Formal Wear presentation is a slower and more refined stage walk that allows contestants to fully display their elegance, confidence, and stage presence. Throughout this portion of the competition, contestants will be judged on first impression, confidence, eye contact, stage presence, walk, posture, and overall grace.
The People’s Choice competition is a fun and exciting opportunity for the community to support their favorite contestants in the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant. Prior to the pageant, each contestant will be featured on the Pageant Planet website with a professional headshot photo. Contestants will receive a direct link to their voting page, which they may choose to share with friends, family, and through social media platforms to encourage community support.
Votes are $1 each, and all voting takes place online leading up to pageant night, with the People’s Choice winners announced live during the event. There are three People’s Choice categories: Jr. Miss, Teen, and Miss. The winner in each division will receive 50% of the funds raised within their category, while the remaining 50% will go directly toward scholarships awarded to the pageant winners.
Participation in People’s Choice is completely optional. While all contestants will have their photo displayed on the voting page, contestants are under no obligation to promote voting or share the link. Each participant may choose their level of involvement at their own discretion.
The Director’s Choice Award is a special honor selected by the directors of the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant and is presented to the contestant who best embodies the spirit of the pageant throughout the entire experience. This award recognizes a young lady who demonstrates exceptional dedication, strong time management, compassion toward fellow contestants, and a consistently positive attitude during rehearsals and events. She is kind, supportive, hardworking, and a genuine pleasure to work with, while always giving her full effort and uplifting those around her. The recipient of the Director’s Choice Award helps create a memorable, encouraging, and positive experience for everyone involved in the pageant journey.
The Miss Congeniality Award is one of the most special honors presented during the Miss El Dorado Scholarship Pageant because it is selected entirely by the contestants themselves. This award recognizes the young lady who best demonstrates kindness, encouragement, compassion, and a genuine willingness to support those around her throughout the pageant experience. Often considered one of the most treasured awards of the evening, it celebrates the contestant who helps create a positive, welcoming, and uplifting environment for her fellow participants.
